What: Ministry of Environment & Forests, Govt of India, calls for proposal for financial support for NRM Programmes

The Ministry of Environment & Forests invitesresearch proposals for financial support in prescribed format under its NNRMSProgramme.The NNRMS Programme supports research projects aimed atoptimal utilization of remote sensing techniques along with conventionalmethods for addressing key environmental and ecological issues such asmanagement of forests, grasslands, faunal resources, wetlands, coastalareas management including conservation of mangrovesand coral resources, land degradation, impact ofdevelopmental activities on environment.

Priority will be given to the areas relating toMonitoring of Ecologically Sensitive Areas, desertification status mapping ofIndia, Establishment of Himalayan Snow and Glaciers Monitoring System, timeseries analysis of data for a minimum of 4 to 5 years for differentecological & environmental variables of various bio-resourcesand environment.

Eligibility:

All Academic institutions, Universities, National Institutes, recognized R&Dinstitutions, reputed non-governmental organizations and voluntary bodies as well as private organizations including industry through scientists and technologists working in them (both NGOs, voluntary bodies and private organizations including industry have to be registered as a research institution with the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Government of India) are eligible to submit the proposals.Guidelines for applications.

Submission of proposals

The research proposals should be submitted/prepared by the Principal Investigator (PI) in the prescribed proforma given in the “Guidelines for Support to Environmental Research – 2012” andforwarded to this Ministry alongwith Fifteen (15) hard copiesof the proposal and a soft copy in CD form by the Head of the Institution. If the project is a joint venture then itshould be explicitly mentioned.The application as complete in all respects should be sent by Registered/Speed Post in a confidential sealed envelope by 31st December 2012 on the address given below. The research proposals not evaluated in the current financial year(2012-2013) would be considered in the next financial year.
